Morning departure and our first National Trust visit will also be our comfort stop at Stonehenge.
A chance for a quick look up closer to the stones than when we just drive up past them on the A303. They also have an interpretation centre, cafe etc.
The second National Trust visit today is Polesden Lacey which was the lavish country retreat of Mrs Greville a voracious socialite who rubbed shoulder with the best in Edwardian high society. Explore the house with its collection of Faberge, fine art collection and then the gardens a blend of Edwardian splendour.
Our hotel for the next two nights is the Marriott hotel Lingfield Racecourse
A chance to use the leisure facilities before dinner
Tuesday
After breakfast we travel to Bodaim Castle. Sir Edward Dallingridge was a larger than life character and built Bodiam in 1385 as a showpiece & defensive structure. After exploring Bodiam our next National Trust visit is to the famous Castle gardens at Sissinghurst. This famous garden with its fairy-tale tower and the garden arranged in ‘different rooms & colour schemes.
Return to hotel for a bit of relaxation before dinner.
Wednesday
Our final two properties to visit are Igtham Mote a perfectly preserved medieval moated manor house hidden away in a valley. Close by is Knole, a house full of treasures. Some of the recently restored rooms will be on show although major conservation work is still continuing. For those that have been watching the National Trust programme on television I hope you saw Knole with Alan Titchmarsh.
