Sunday

We plan on having  short comfort stop and then our first NT visit, to Polesden Lacey a 1,600-acre estate  boasting rolling downland with views over the Surrey Hills. The house is the country retreat of Edwardian socialite, Margaret Greville. The downstairs showrooms house her extensive collection of paintings, ceramics and fine French furniture. The garden has wonderful herbaceous borders and a walled rose garden, all with exceptional views + woodland walks

Monday

Our first NT property today is Chartwell, home of Sir Winston Churchill and his family. Filled with treasures, gifts and personal belongings, presented as they knew it. The Studio, home of the largest single collection of Winston Churchill’s paintings. Interactive displays offer insight into Churchill the painter. There is a Rose Garden created by Lady Churchill, Walled Garden & Woodland.

In the afternoon a visit to Emmetts Garden, which has a Rock, Rose, North, South & Woodland gardens to explore

Tuesday

Morning visit to Scotney Castle.  A ruined medieval castle &  Victorian mansion house with rolling parkland, ancient woodland & picturesque garden

In the afternoon a visit to the famous Sissinghurst Gardens.  A symbol of love and horticultural ambition, created by Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson in the early 1930's.  Designed in a series of 'rooms' with summer highlights including the White Garden.  From the tower, home to Vita's writing room you have panoramic views of the formal garden & wider estate.

Wednesday

Our last day is a day at Chatham Dockyard, we plan on starting with a guided tour on the coach so you get a perspective of where things are.
