+ OTHERS WELL KNOWN GARDENS
Sunday 14th/Thursday 18th August 2022
Morning departure and a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum.
You would need a whole day+ do visit all the memorials and you only have a few hours. For anyone who has not been before there is for additional cost a land train and buggys to show you the main areas.
Afterwards we travel to our hotel for the next four nights -
Best Western Forest Hills @ Frodsham
This morning we visit the new RHS Bridgewater garden and in the afternoon the Ness Botanical gardens spread across 64 acres with stunning views of the River Dee and North Wales.
A little further to travel today over the border into Wales for our first National Trust visit, Penrhyn Castle & Garden where they also have a railway museum which is dedicated to industrial locomotives, some of which were once used in the Penrhyn quarry. In the afternoon a visit to the world famous NT Grade I garden of Bodnant with its hillside setting. The garden’s (80 acres) drop dramatically from manicured lawns and grand, flower-filled terraces, through buzzing wildflower meadows and shrub-filled glades, into awe-inspiring dells of water gardens and towering trees.
In the morning we visit NT Quarry Mill and hopefully see the Mill in action. The afternoon we visit Tatton Park with a 18th century mansion displaying treasures from the treasured collections of the well-travelled Egerton family. The fragrant, formal Gardens take you around the world to the Japanese Garden’s symbolic harmony with nature.
After checking out and making our way home our final visit will be to NT Powis Castle. This medieval castle rises dramatically above the celebrated garden. Wander the Italianate terraces blasted from the solid rock and marvel at spectacular yew hedges, dancing statues and lavish herbaceous borders.
