3 NATIONAL TRUST + BRISTOL BOAT TRIP & BOATMANS LUNCH
SUNDAY 29TH/MONDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER
Morning departure and our first NT visit today will be Montacute House
a late Elizabethan mansion with garden in Montacute, South Somerset. An example of English architecture during a period that was moving from the medieval Gothic to the Renaissance Classical. Later we visit Lytes Cary Manor a short distance away, an intimate manor house with Arts and Crafts-style garden.
We then travel to Swindon for our overnight stay at Hilton Doubletree
This morning we visit Lacock. Lacock Abbey is packed with history. It started as an abbey and nunnery, then became a Tudor family home. The last owners were the Talbots. You might know it as the birthplace of photography or have seen it in many films & television series.
From here we travel to Bristol to catch our boat for a 3 hour boat trip where we escape the city and get onto the rural stretches of the River Avon and head inland whilst enjoying a boatmans lunch.
The boat will turn at Hanham & return to Bristol.
