Morning departure with coffee/comfort stop before a break at National Memorial Arboretum
Thursday
We visit Beamish, the world famous open air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s, 1940's & 1950's. Visit the 1900's town to see life leading up to the First World War, the 1900's Pit Village & Colliery, 1940's Farm & 1950's Town & Farm, seeing then what life was like in the mid-20th century. The Beamish Tramway will take you around the site.
Friday
Today we visit both Alnwick Castle & Gardens.
Alnwick Castle has over 950 years of history to discover, and the origins of the Castle date back to the Norman period. Since 1309, its story has been intertwined with that of the Percy family, a family with a history as illustrious as the castle’s own. The second largest inhabited castle in the UK, Alnwick has served as a military outpost, a teaching college, a refuge for evacuees, a film set, and not least as a family home. Delve deeper into this extraordinary history and travel through the centuries of this living, evolving castle.
We also visit the famous Alnwick Gardens (a separate attraction which is situated adjacent to the Castle)
See the Serpent, Rose, Ornamental Gardens and the Grand Cascade of
120 jets make up the half-hourly water displays that continues to amaze visitors. The Grand Cascade is the backbone of The Garden.
Then there is the famous Poison Garden enter at your own risk.
Saturday
In the morning we will have mystery trip returning to the hotel for
an early dinner before we visit Kynren. Described as the UK's most spectacular open-air show. This live action show with the dramatic Bishop Auckland Castle in Durham providing the back drop the this spectacular performance.
Two thousand years of history, myth and legend rush by in 90 minutes as we join young Arthur on his epic quest. Rebellions, wars, magic, majesty, celebration and heartache are vividly brought to ground-shaking life in a dazzling outdoor-theatre spectacular.
From Boudicca’s battles with the Romans to two world wars, via Vikings, Tudors and the fate of Charles I, Kynren’s a spellbinding, family-friendly experience delivering thrills, shocks, tears, laughs, goosebumps and gasps on a truly cinematic scale.
Sunday
We make our way home with comfort stops and break in Coventry.
