This years trip to the Emerald Isles takes in some

of South East & attractions in the North + Snowdonia (Wales)

We make our way up through Wales to catch the ferry to Rosslare Co. Wexford and then a short journey to the Ferrycarrig Hotel, Wexford for dinner bed & breakfast.

After departing the hotel  we will make our way up through the Wicklow Mountains to Rossbourgh House.  We have a guided tour of the house, time to enjoy the gardens and a sheep dog demonstration before arriving at our hotel for the next 3 nights the Ballymascanlon House Hotel at Dundalk

Today we have arranged to visit Hillsborough Castle.

From grand family home to charming royal residence, Hillsborough Castle has welcomed the world and witnessed pivotal moments in history for over three hundred years.

The castle is the official Northern Ireland residence of HM The Queen. Leading members of the Royal Family have regularly visited Northern Ireland since 1922, using Hillsborough as their ceremonial and personal base.

It's also been home to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland since the 1970s and has played a central role in the peace-building process for 40 years.  There are 100 acres of gardens but we don't expect you to explore all of them.

Back across the border again to visit  two National Trust properties Mount Stewart   a Neo-classical house and celebrated gardens recently voted one of the top 10 gardens in the world & Castle Ward.

The current Castle Ward is a particularly unusual building, famed for having been built with two completely opposing decorative style, all because of a marital disagreement.

One half is built in the classical Palladian style, with the other half which faces out across Strangford lough is built in the more elaborate Gothic style.

We make our way to Dublin and the ferry home but before we visit Christ Church Cathedral for a guided tour and hopefully there is a chance to ring the bells.

We will stay the night in Llanberis Snowdonia @ The Royal Victoria Hotel  to save the long direct drive home.

Morning in Llanberis.  There are various options available to you .

We are in walking distance of the Snowdonia Mountain Railway which  has been described as one of the most wonderful railway journeys in the world.  If you wish to book for this trip the Steam only takes 34 people for the 2.5 hours round trip costs approx £39 & the Diesel approx £30  - both trips are of course subject to weather conditions please let me know asap.  I am waiting for confirmation of 2020 times & prices.  For those that don't wish or have done the Mount Railway before nearby is the National Slate Museum which has free entry and the Llanberis Lake Railway approx £9
