GLOUCESTER DAY TRIP

(HERITAGE WEEKEND)

A day trip to Gloucester.

This is Heritage Weekend and today there are various events for FREE for part of it.

So if you don't want to do retail therapy why not visit one of the events. 

Stonemasons Workshop, 10.00-15.00

Gloucester is one of only a few Cathedrals that still has its own onsite Stonemasons’ Workshop. Enjoy carving demonstrations and find out more about the work that this team do to conserve and restore an extraordinary building.

14.00  A guided walk around the city. A fascinating story of Gloucester from Roman times to the present day. This is a guided walk through the heart of one of Britain's oldest cities, where history has truly left its mark.

Visit the National Waterways Museum to uncover the fascinating story of the local waterways and the history behind Gloucester Docks.

Mercers Hall (Masonic Lodge)

Probably built in the second half of the 18th century this building has been occupied by a Perfumer, a Cider merchant and Brewer and been used as a bonded warehouse and dance hall. It is presently occupied by the Gloucester Freemasons as their Masonic Lodge.
Tours to be held on the hour starting at 10.00,  St Michael’s Tower on the Cross  where a Guide will meet you.
