CASTLE, GARDENS & BRICKS
Sunday 20th/Monday 21st May 2018
Today we visit Sherborne Castle in Dorset. Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594, this historic house reflects a glorious variety of decorative styles from over 400 years of English history. An exhibition Sir Walter Raleigh @ Sherborne will mark the 400th anniversary of his execution. There are 42 acres of gardens and grounds to enjoy in this natural setting with a 50 acre lake created by Capability Brown.
Our hotel for the night is the Ocean Beach in Bournemouth located on the sea-front at the top of East Cliff and only minutes walk from the beach.
First a visit to The Brickworks Museum @ Bursledon.
Learn all about bricks there's more to them than what you most probably realise.
In the afternoon we visit Exbury Gardens woodland gardens covering 200 acres Exbury are world famous for rhododendrons & azaleas which should hopefully be at their peak for our visit.
