BRIGERTON EXPERIENCE

Tuesday 20th May 2025

2025 will mark 250 years of Jane Austen and we have organised this trip to mark the occasion.

Join us on a Brigerton Experience.

We make our way to Trowbridge & Parade House with coffee/comfort stop enroute.  You won't want much  lunch as you need room for your Regency Afternoon Tea being held in the Ballroom and  served on vintage china  which includes delicious scones, finger sandwiches and freshly baked cakes.

First we will have a guided tour of Parade House which  is a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse in the historic heart of the County Town of Wiltshire.

Built in around 1720 for the wealthy cloth merchant Robert Houlton, it is one of the town's finest and most elegant buildings, the centrepiece of what Pevsner's Guide  to Wiltshire described as a "stretch of palaces" along Fore Street. With beautiful meeting rooms, an original sweeping staircase and a grand ballroom but please note NO LIFT, however I am told the staircase has gentle steps for those with mobility issues.

After the tour we take our places for our Regency Afternoon Tea followed by Jane Austen Regency Dancers of Bath showing off their dancing skills and a chance later should you wish to partake.

Coach departs Forde Park 10.00 (tbc) followed by pickups Railway Station (park side) B&Q, Next Greenhill Way, Warecross & Exeter Services.

Cost  £65.00 to include coach travel, guided tour, afternoon tea & Regency dancing at Parade House, Trowbridge

As a visitor, you will experience the newest areas first, beginning with the multi-faceted Formal Garden and then the Stream Field and Lake to the north. These in turn lead toward the South West and Devon Orchards and the very popular Fruit and Vegetable Garden. Walking through the Underpass you discover the contrasting original garden of Lady Anne Berry, which consists of many garden ‘rooms’ that blend seamlessly into one.
